QUALIFICATIONS OF THE COURSE TUTORS AND THEIR STYLE OF TEACHING

The courses are conducted by Peter Thomson and Nigel Philips. Peter Thomson is a fourth generation professional master restorer who, after a traditional training at his family’s antique furniture restoration workshops, completed a B.A.D.A. Diploma course at West Dean College in 1974.

He then moved on to teach and to work for the National Trust, Sothebys, the Jordanian Royal family, private collectors and dealers both here and in the U.S.A.

He has, over the years, worked on some of the world’s most beautiful and valuable antique furniture. His tuition style is relaxed, respectful and enthusiastic.

It reflects his love of restoration, teaching and a desire to share with his students, techniques and skills almost lost in this modern age. Having run a successful restoration business for many years, he is very well qualified to supply the expertise required for those wishing to set up a restoration business of their own.

The second tutor is Nigel Philips. He is a teacher of over 30 years experience. A master craftsman with endless patience and the natural ability to impart his knowledge effectively to others.
